Inspired by the natural world, urban life and the domestic landscape, I am interested in exploring traditional subjects, captured in moments of transition, in a quest to occupy the tense, fertile terrain that lies somewhere between figuration and abstraction. My studio practice is based in the lovely old county town of Lewes, East Sussex, where I live and work. I returned to study as a mature student gaining a BTEC National Diploma in Art and Design (Distinction) from Pembrokeshire College, Haverfordwest, Wales and an Honours degree in Textiles (2.1) from Winchester School of Art, (University of Southampton). I am currently the Artist in Residence at The Clinic at Borde Hill, a complementary healing centre in West Sussex, where my paintings can be seen on the walls of the reception area and treatment rooms. I am a member of the Towner Gallery, Eastbourne based Blue Monkey Artists Network, which aims to promote the exchange of ideas, information, and opportunity, as well as encouraging professional and creative development. I exhibit mainly through privately hired gallery spaces and my work can be found in private collections in Sussex, Kent, Surrey and London; the Isle of Lewis, Scotland, France, Italy and Spain. |
